Our Servants at GuideStone

Baptist Press provides for us today an article entitled "Hawkins Notes GuideStone's Servant Role." A young woman whom I once had the privilege to pastor now works at GuideStone, and she has confirmed for me the steadfast dedication of the employees there. I had occasion to drive past the GuideStone building in uptown Dallas not long ago. Before 6:00 a.m. a steady stream of modest cars were streaming into GuideStone's parking garage. These servants go to work early for you!

A heartfelt thank you to those who serve us at GuideStone. Your dedication has been noted by such as the folks at Lipper. Neither do they go unnoticed by those at First Baptist Church of Farmersville and thousands of other churches around the nation.

  1. Oh, you just want the fine people at Guidestone to look more closely after your retirement. Stop all of this schmoozing. Oh no! Is schmoozing a yiddish curse word? Did I just mess up and not know it?

  3. Tim,

You jest, but there is no doubt that some will read it in this manner.

On the other hand, others, tired of reading maliciousness every day, will recognize that gratitude is a biblical injunction and will be glad to read something positive about the SBC for a change.

  4. Dr. Barber,

I too am extremely grateful for the work of our employees at Guidestone. My wife has been going through cancer treatments for the past six months - and she has another six months to go. I cannot tell you the peace of knowing our insurance through Guidestone has never wavered. The people I have talked to have all - ALL - been the most helpful I have ever had to deal with.

Also, my mother, now close to 80 and blind, is blessed each month through the Mission:Dignity ministry. She is well cared for by her family, but the monthly assistance from our Southern Baptist family allows her a small amount of freedom and indepencence that has always been so important to her.

These men and women work very hard all day, every day so that we don't have to worry about stuff like that. God bless them, every one!

  5. Bart,

Dr. O. S. Hawkins is a wonderful servant of the Lord and we are very blessed to have him at the helm of Guidestone. Dr. Hawkins has also been an enthusiastic supporter of the Small Church Leadership Conference. He has a tremendous heart for pastors of small churches.

  6. When I was a pastor in Wyoming I had the privilege of hearing O.S Hawkins. He was a leader for one of State conferences. Instead of bringing a slick powerpoint presentation, Dr. Hawkins met with us 20 or so pastors around some tables and we "talked shop." Although I had known of his ministry for a good while before that time, my estimation of him rose dramatically.
