The winner of this contest will receive his choice of (a) The right to post an article on this blog of his or her own composition and choice, edited only to exclude obscene words or thoughts, or (b) The right to require the host of this blog to author and publish a post on any question of his or her own choosing.
Here's the contest: Name the precise date and time that the loser will concede the national presidential election, and who will be conceding. Of those who identify the correct loser, the closest time prediction will win. All dates will be Eastern Standard Time (unless you explicitly state otherwise).

I'll go first: John McCain, November 4, 11:38 PM.
Barack Obama, December 22, and he won't use the word "concede".
Stuart,
Yours is a good comment for me to make a couple of clarifications:
1. If you submit only a date, I'm going to take that as 12:00 noon on that date.
2. By "concede" I mean the speech in which the candidate acknowledges the end of ongoing efforts to win the 2008 election without launching any new efforts to win the 2008 election.
John McCain, November 4, 11:39 PM.
Barack H. Obama will concede his defeat by 10:15 PM on Tuesday, November 4. Yes, Eastern Standard.
Mark it down...
Quick!
Somebody bid McCain for 11:40 PM on 11/4. Then Welty will be boxed in and can only win if it happens on that very minute!
:-)
Wes,
That automobile accident that happened up your way lately…say, you weren't in the car were you? Did you land on your head?
:-)
ok ok.. just for you Bart.. McCain 11:41 pm on the 4th of November..
And thanks for letting me win this one too Bart...
Steve
John McCain, November 4, 11:54 PM
John McCain...Nov. 5th...7:05 am
Barack Obama, December 19th, 7:13 PM
Barak Obama on Dec 17 at 7:30pm
Obama, 8:03am, Nov 5.
Hey, it could happen.
Ched,
Don't misinterpret my rough treatment of Mr. Kenney, for several reasons:
1. I just like to treat him like that.
2. I'm not planning to dismiss out-of-hand everyone who thinks that Senator Obama will be the one to concede, but even if he does, I do think it borders upon the ridiculous to think that "The One We've Been Waiting For" would fold up the tent so quickly (10:15 PM EST!!!) without a fight.
Obama, 1PM, Nov. 5
Barack Obama - 9PM December 1ST - as a birthday present to me.
There is always hope! :)
Obama - November 5, 10:37 am
BHO...22:11...11-22-08!
Mr. Chairman, I reserve the right to amend my comment at any time prior to or immediately following the actual concession.
Sola Gratia!
B. Hussein Obama, November 6, 10:00 AM.
guys guys.. We are 10 and half hours ahead of you here in Australia (and 30 years behind).. trust me, we will know before you know...
Steve
Obama, Nov. 6th, 3:00 a.m. while we are all sleeping so no one will know he did it. selahV
McCain - 11:15 P.M.
Are we going with the time the speech starts? Will it be the clock on FOX News that determines the winner? Afterall, I tend to set all of my clocks about 5-10 minutes ahead :)
McCain will concede 11-5-08 @12:35am
Chris,
Yes, I'm going with the start time of the concession speech.
OK. I'm closing the contest. And with the fall of Pennsylvania, I'm calling the election for Obama. That means that most of you are, by my prediction, out of the running. Yes...we'll see...but for the sake of my work right now, I'm not going to bother with anyone who predicted an Obama concession.
So, that leaves:
Chris Bonts, 11:15 tonight.
Me, 11:38
Greg Welty, 11:39.
Steve Grose, 11:41
Steve Ruff, 11:54
revtread, 12:35 AM
Right now, I like the way it looks for Chris Bonts. Smart move, waiting late to pick a time!
David Worley, 7:05 AM tomorrow
Hey....I just need John McCain to hold off for 12 more minutes, and then I WIN!!!!
McCain's concession speech started at 11:18 PM EST. The winner is Chris Bonts.
i concede!~ :(
Steve
Bart,
Give me a couple of days and I will decide whether to forward an article to you or to ask a question of you to answer.
Blessings,
Chris Bonts
All right Bart,
I was all set to write an article for your blog on the importance of church unity properly understood, but time has gotten the best of me. We are in the process of calling two additional pastors at the church I currently pastor (and I have only been here 12 weeks). That coupled with my efforts to complete the last chapter and a half of my dissertation take all of my time. So here is my request of you:
I want you to write an impassioned plea for Southern Baptists to produce a catechism based upon the BF&M 2000. I will pray that this article leads to a workshop in which several baptist pastors come together for a few days to hammer one out.
Yours in Christ,
Chris Bonts
