Baptist Standard Bearer

Nestled in Paris, AR, is a publishing house laboring primarily at the republication of classic Baptist printed works. Trust me, if you have any interest whatsoever in Baptist History, you need to initiate a relationship with the folks over at Baptist Standard Bearer. Looking for a copy of William Kiffin's 1681 tract, A Sober Discourse Of Right To Church Communion, Wherein is proved by Scripture, the Example of Primitive Times, & the Practice of All that have Professed the Christian Religion that "No Unbaptized Person may be Regularly admitted to the Lord's Supper."? Well, you're not going to find it at Barnes & Noble. You probably are not going to find it in the library of your nearest Baptist university. But you can have it for $7.00 from Baptist Standard Bearer (see here). That and a cornucopia of other Baptist otherwise-out-of-print titles. The best deals in Baptist publishing are the BSB's new CD-ROM products. Wade Burleson, Debbie Kaufman, and George Ella will be glad to know that a complete set of John Gill's works are available (the proprietors at BSB are staunchly Calvinistic, and not SBCers). My personal favorite is the Baptist History Collection CD-ROM. Your attention span is not long enough to read a list of everything contained on this $50.00 CD-ROM. Suffice it to say that you couldn't collect the contained works for 20 times that price. My brethren over in Paris ought to be paying me for this free advertising, but they aren't. I'm just enthusiastic about what they are doing. Go take a look at their site (that's here, again), and see whether it doesn't pique your interest as well.

I am a big fan of the $50.00 CD. I also have the Gill set, which has been useful in a couple of research projects.

Great! Possibly your best post ever! ;-)

Baptist Standard Bearer is great and the Baptist History Collection CD-ROM is top of the line. What a value. What a resource. I mean, who else would know to include J. B. Link's Texas Historical and Biographical Magazine in such a collection. I'd almost think they made this collection according to my personal order.

I second Bart's recommendation. Check out Baptist Standard Bearer.

Bart,

As you know I was not aware of this wonderful resource until our conversation this afternoon.

Thanks for sharing this resource.

Nathan,

The interesting thing about BSB is that, after you have acquired the big stuff, you look around and notice the depth and variety of the little things they have lying around. Truly fascinating.

R. L.,

Brother, you were made for posts like this one. I can't discern 100% from your post—were you already a BSB customer?

Les,

I greatly enjoyed our conversation.

Perry,

:-)

All evidence to the contrary.

Bart, I've known about BSB for quite awhile, first from seeing their books in libraries. I've never ordered much directly from them. For example, I ordered the Baptist History Collection CD from Lehigh Valley BC's bookstore for $40 instead of ordering from BSB (not sure how they do that, but it works for me).

BTW, you probably already know, but some of your reader's might be interested in another Paris, AR contribution to Baptist history. R. E. Pound's Old Faith Baptist Library makes available several old works via the internet, including some by Benjamin Cox, Daniel King, Hansard Knollys, Thomas Patient, and John Spilsbury.

Bart, I'm 120 miles from Paris, my birth father lives 10 minutes from there and I've never heard of the Baptist Standard Bearer.
Thanks, this is 'your best post ever.' :)
Blessings,
Alyce

Bart,

Amen! I agree with Bro. Vaughn that this might possibly be your best post yet. I have ordered a number of books from the Standard Bearer. Their books are very well made, their prices are reasonable and they reprint many books that haven't been published in over 100 years. If you are interested in learning what Baptists used to believe check out their website.
